Doc Staffers Enter Unnamed Epic Challenge in August
On Saturday, August 28th Team Sports, who organized the Tour of America's Dairyland last month, are bringing epic mountain bike racing to Wisconsin. Set in the area chosen for the mountain biking venue for Chicago's 2016 Olympic bid, the 75-mile race starts in Mineral Point and finishes at the highest point in southern Wisconsin at the top of Blue Mound State Park. Racers can enter solo or as two-person teams. A permanent name for the race will be chosen from submissions by the entrants.
Currently two Bicycle Doctor staffers have signed up for the 6,000 foot elevation gain challenge. They are either training hard or shaking in their chamois knowing that fellow employee Phil Van Valkenberg is designing the course thinking "now this is really going to make them hurt." There's an entry fee bump at the end of the month so CLICK HERE for details. You can also volunteer and watch Joe & Gary suffer.
Lance Armstrong says Farewell to Tour de France
If you didn't get a bit misty when Lance Armstrong crashed again at the wrong time losing any chance of contesting his last Tour de France you don't have a heart or are still a Jan Ullrich fan. He had more bad luck this year than during his seven Tour victories. So raise a toast to the greatest Tour cyclist ever. America and the world may never see another such as he. CLICK HERE for a YouTube montage of some of his memorable moments.
Happy trails, The Doc
