Lapham Peak, Delafield


Undoubtedly the most popular ski trail in the surrounding area. Lapham Peak offers a volunteer run snowmaking operation and lighted trails. 

With real snowfall, the park offers:

  • 7.9K Novice Trails
  • 9.3K Intermediate Trails
  • 10.6K Advanced Trails

Heated indoor room and bathrooms at Evergreen Shelter.

Nashotah Park, Nashotah

Offering just over 10 kilometers of groomed skate and classic trails, Nashotah Park is a place where skiers of all levels can experience skiing at its best.

Unheated toilets.

10 miles north of Bicycle Doctor.

County parking pass required.

McMiller Sports Center Trails, Eagle

McMiller Ski Trail Map

Five loops totaling about 13 kilometers. Outstanding grooming with low traffic for both skate and classic skiing.

This is Doc's favorite ski trail; like his music it has great rhythm. Only the short Red Trail is suitable for beginners. Others offer great challenges.

Heated indoor shelter and bathrooms on weekends.

Also a fire arms shooting range and used for biathlon skiing. Some "quiet" no shooting weekends scheduled.

Kettle Moraine Nordic Trails, La Grange

The most variety of the trail systems, Kettle Moraine has about 18 kilometers of trails on six loops.

Heated indoor shelter. Unheated toilets.

Offers trails groomed for skating and classical for all abilities.

Doc performs his long workouts here, three of the blue loops equals a marathon.

21 miles south of Bicycle Doctor.

Minooka Park, Waukesha

A great "in town" county park in Waukesha that offers the county's expert grooming for stride and skate skiing. Minooka gets more walkers than the other trails - expect to share! 

About 10 kilometers of trail on three loops suitable for beginner skiers.

Unheated toilets.

CamRock County Park, Cambridge

A Dane County Park connecting the villages of Cambridge and Rockdale.

About 13 kilometers of trail on three loops groomed for classical and skate skiing. Evenly divided between easy, moderate and difficult.

Unheated shelters and toilets.

Greenbush Trails, Greenbush

Greenbush Trails

Popular 10 kilometer system with five loops groomed for skating and classical for all abilities, but mostly challenging.

Always busy on weekends.

Heated indoor shelter. Unheated toilets.

86 miles north of Bicycle Doctor.

State parking sticker required.

Zillmer Trails, Dundee

Zillmer Trails

Four loops groomed for classical and skate skiing totaling about 12 kilometers of trail. A little known favorite system for some. Beginner to expert.

Heated indoor shelter. Unheated toilets.

Access on County SS. Nearby Ice Age Interpretive Center worth a visit.

78 miles north of Bicycle Doctor.

State parking sticker required.

Pike Lake State Park, Hartford

About seven total kilometers on two loops groomed for skating and classical. Narrow trails challenging for beginners.

Parking lot access on Powder Hill Road, not usual park entrance. 

Unheated toilets in nearby campground. Often has snow when other trails don't.
