Kettle Moraine Adventure Company - Dancing on Skis with Dan LaBlanc

"When I took up XC, I decided to take lessons from Dan Clausen in Minocqua and also worked with my mentor and friend, Dale Peters who was a Level 3 (highest level) Alpine and XC instructor.

As I mentioned, in the mid to late 80’s skating was born and we all were in on developing equipment and technique. In the early 90’s I got frustrated with all the opinions out there on how to ski, I recalled my Alpine PSIA experience, and sought out PSIA instruction for XC to learn the truth."

Tweaks to the S/Lab Carbon eSkin Ski that make a big difference

The S/Lab Carbon eSkin Classic got little tweaks that make a big difference. Salomon has added another carbon layer at the back of the ski to raise the ski’s camber slightly, and also improve recovery from a compressed state.

This means a bonus boost of acceleration after the kick, lifting the skin off the snow faster, releasing pressure on the skin and reducing drag.

Through engineering wizardry, Salomon has accomplished this without compromising the performance of the kick as well.

What's hot this year: 2020 Gear Review with Max

Space

In the world of cross country skiing, innovation is constant. This model year, both Start and Fischer have made noteworthy innovations in their race models.

New from Start this year is the Race Ultra ski pole, which improves upon the previous year’s high performance racing pole, the Race 1.0 pole. The Race Ultra pole keeps Start's industry-leading design of reducing carbon layering at the tip of the pole, which serves to save precious ounces without compromising either stiffness or durability.

Replacing your old ski boots with the PERFECT new pair

"Finding the right pair of boots, I feel, is more important than a pair of skis. I have been in the same boots for 11 years. For five years, I have been trying to replace them, but haven't found the right pair.

Believe me, I've tried - from demo days at the Birkie to borrowing Doc's personal boots, to walking or roller skiing around Bicycle Doctor for hours.

I finally found that magical pair in the 2019-2020 Fischer Speedmax Skate boot." -Rick Flayter

Tour de Jo - Tips for staying safe on your bike

Words by Jody Mayers

Resident blogger, cycling enthusiast, and mom

"As the momentum of biking seems to be on an uptick, so does something else, something we have to encounter every day, every ride, every minute, It often shifts our attention from obtaining record speeds, splits or simply enjoying the scenery around us. I’m talking about distracted drivers."

Watts Up with Electric Bikes?

SPACE

SPACE

The bicycle is a simple solution to many complex problems. It's the world's most efficient form of transportation, but is only used for about 1% of all trips in America. Although a car or truck is much less efficient and costs a lot more money, many people still prefer to drive two tons of steel two miles across town to cash a check, get a haircut, or pick-up food.
